Our Management Team

LightBridge founder, President and CEO, Thomas B. Elin, has assembled a team of highly experienced and credentialed professionals to run LightBridge Healthcare Research, Inc.
Each member of LightBridge's leadership brings to his or her role wide ranging expertise and many years of hands-on experience, but most importantly, a proven commitment to the LightBridge mission. Additionally, while the team's members may reflect diverse backgrounds, from research and teaching to technology and finance, they all share the personal experience of having cared for loved ones with Alzheimer's disease. The LightBridge management team's commitment to the company's mission is a direct result of their own personal experiences. They are compassionate about caregivers.

Thomas B. Elin, JD Thomas B. Elin, President and CEO of LightBridge, has been dedicated to developing state-of-the-art care programs for those with Alzheimer’s disease since 1980. He has developed, owned, and operated numerous residential projects with an emphasis on housing for the elderly. In addition, he has developed, owned, and operated research centers, which have been integrated into these Alzheimer care programs. In his quest to develop new and innovative care programs for persons with Alzheimer’s, he has incorporated and integrated research relating primarily to the behavioral issues affecting persons with Alzheimer’s disease through direct affiliations with major university health science centers, with an emphasis on medical and nursing schools. These affiliations with institutions of higher education have led Elin to expand his mission to encompass the development and distribution of educational materials using innovative technologies such as CD-ROM based video, Telemedicine and other distance learning vehicles for physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals. 

Before entering the healthcare field, Elin was a corporate attorney specializing in labor law with United Airlines. He is licensed to practice law in the States of California, Texas, Illinois, the District of Columbia, and Nebraska, as well as the US Federal Courts. He was also a Captain in the United States Air Force from 1963 to 1968. Elin earned his BA in Psychology from the College of the Holy Cross, Worcester, Massachusetts in 1963. He earned his JD from Creighton University Law School, Omaha, Nebraska in 1971.

Adriana Mulligan Adriana Mulligan, Vice President, Creative Director and Graphic Designer. Prior to working with LightBridge, she worked as Senior Graphic Designer for JOED Design and as a Graphic Designer at Illinois State University’s (ISU) Office of Residential Life. Mulligan has received honors for her work, including the 1996 Juror’s Merit Award in Design in the ISU Annual Design Exhibition. Her work has been featured at the ISU Digital Arts Festival in1997 and in The Art Department at Illinois State University promotional publication in 1999. Mulligan has also been featured in The Big Book of Logos and The Big Book of Designs for Letterheads and Websites by David E. Carter, as well as in Step by Step Magazine. She earned her BA in Graphic Design from Illinois State University, Normal, Illinois in1997 and studied web design at the College of DuPage, Glen Ellyn, Illinois.

Gerard S. Anderberg Gerard Anderberg, Vice President, Director of Information Technology, and DVD author, brings a wealth of technical expertise and experience to his role as LightBridge Systems Engineer. He has extensive DVD authoring experience, including analog to digital, digital to digital video capture and encoding, digital video editing, and transcoding of digital video, plus multi-track layered audio recording. He also has experience with web server design, building, and support. Prior to working with LightBridge, Anderberg was Principal Technical Analyst, Strategic Architecture and Systems Integration, ISD at Sharp Healthcare in San Diego, California, where he’d previously worked as Senior Systems Analyst in the Information Systems Department. He also worked as Manager of Information Systems at Coronado Hospital in Coronado, California. From 1979 to 1992 Anderberg owned and operated KIVE Software Laboratories, Inc., a California based microcomputer consulting firm specializing in software development, networking, and business software. Anderberg received a Certificate in Broadcast Television Tech in 1978 and an AA in Micro Digital Electronics in 1979 from Palomar College in San Marcos, California.

  Dr. Catherine Harris, LightBridge’s Senior Consultant, formerly maintained a clinical practice at Villa Serena, San Antonio where she provided training and consultation in dementia care. In the early 80s, she pioneered respite care services for home bound caregivers, recruiting, training, and monitoring respite providers. She has led research on the bereavement experience of Alzheimer caregivers, governance in residential settings, and the effectiveness of volunteers as respite care providers. She has received two National Institutes of Mental Health Faculty Development Awards in Geriatric Mental Health and has been certified by the American Nurses Association as a Gerontologic and Adult Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist. In addition to many lectures and radio and television appearances, she led a state-wide Alzheimer training project from 1993 through 1999 in New Mexico. This project included planning and implementing six major Alzheimer conferences and producing training videos for a variety of Alzheimer care topics. With over 30 years of university teaching experience, including eighteen in Geropsychiatric nursing, plus many years of hands-on clinical work, Dr. Harris possesses first-hand knowledge of the needs of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and their families, including diverse cultural and ethnic groups, along with the needs of clinical professionals and care centers. She received her basic nursing education at the University of Kansas, Kansas City and Master’s degree in Psychiatric Nursing from University of California, San Francisco. She received her PhD from the University of New Mexico and a Graduate Certificate in Gerontology from the Leonard Davis School of Gerontology at the University of Southern California. She served three years as a Lieutenant in the US Air Force.

Mindy Kim-Miller, MD, PhD Dr. Mindy Kim-Miller, Senior VP of Research and Education, Principal Investigator, completed an MD/PhD Combined Degree Medical Scientist Training Program in order to pursue translational research. She received her PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she studied regulated secretion from neuroendocrine cells, and earned her MD from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. Her funding history includes an individual MD/PhD Fellowship from the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuroscience Training Grants from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her clinical training includes Internal medicine, Diagnostic Radiology, and Ophthalmology. She enjoys teaching and has given lectures on a diverse range of topics including dementia at the University of Wisconsin, University of Chicago, and University of Illinois – Chicago. She recently contributed several chapters to a radiology textbook on head and neck imaging. Her work has been presented at national and international scientific conferences. Through her personal experiences living with and helping to care for a grandfather with dementia, she appreciates the need for support, education, and training for caregivers of those with dementia.
