About LightBridge

Definition of Translational Research

 Translational Research is:

  1. Creating and supporting an infrastructure that will enhance the process of developing and translating basic social, behavioral and biological knowledge about aging independently using state of the art technology and engineering.

  2. Establishing a use-inspired living laboratory for technology-based health monitoring and support of independent aging, utilizing unique study sites in the community consisting of individual residences and communities together with advances in ubiquitous computing.

  3. Accelerating the process of development and translation of knowledge gained in this living laboratory through innovative public-private partnerships, cross-disciplinary collaborations and recruitment of new talent into the field.

The LightBridge Approach:

LightBridge challenges existing standards through new technologies and innovative approaches to Alzheimer care. LightBridge goes beyond current training materials on dementia care presently available in the market or on the internet with its "user friendly" learning resources and educational training programs that inspire primary caregivers to learn about and apply the principals they learned in their work with dementia patients. The LightBridge Care Program brings scientists and care providers together, bridging the gap between research and the daily hands on care which in turn improves the world of both communities. The following graphic displays the interactive process involved in the program's development. ">
