LightBridge

A critical distinction of LightBridge’s research-based care program is its affiliations with major University Research Centers located throughout the country.

These affiliations enable LightBridge to have first hand knowledge of research being conducted in the field of dementia care.  Faculty and students bring an atmosphere of inquiry and energy that promote innovation in educational program development, providing valuable feedback about the effectiveness of program and teaching materials.

LightBridge partners with major University Health Science Centers, such as the University of Texas and the University of Maryland, among others, by way of an affiliation agreement with the Medical and/or Nursing Schools.  LightBridge and the University of Maryland are working together on a variety of joint research grants for the National Institutes of Health. LightBridge and University faculty and students staff these NIH research grants to conduct, among other things, ongoing translational research.

Finally, the results of the above mentioned research will be used by both the affiliated medical schools and nursing schools to train students in the diagnosis, treatment and care of persons with Alzheimer’s disease. Those utilizing this research will have the advantage of the most comprehensive, progressive, and intensive Alzheimer care and expertise available, with access to the newest and most sophisticated treatment modalities available.

The LightBridge research-based Alzheimer care program is not the basic “warehouse type” of health care program, but rather a highly sophisticated care program which incorporates Alzheimer’s disease research and “best practice” into the daily hands on care of persons with Alzheimer’s disease.
