I was just wondering about when a person is unable to verbally use lauguage skills , if maybe communicating in other forms might help.Ie: My Uncle is a Muscian and was his whole life, he enjoys big band jazz, I wondered if soemthing like "Name that tune" or guitar hereo programs or soem kind of games where he hears a sound might help? Or could if further confuse and frustrate?

Dear Mt MtM,
I think communication comes in many forms, not just verbal. You can use body language, facial expressions, appropriate touch, and other mediums, including music. Music can convey and elicit different emotions and trigger memories. And given your uncle’s history of enjoying jazz, he probably would activities related to music. Even if it is not a means of “communication” as you envision it, it would at least be a way to spend quality time with him. Music can be so therapeutic. I think it’s worth giving music a try to see how he reacts to it.
Good luck!
